Day 48 – Seven Emu Station to King Ash Bay (Sun
June 10th)
We savoured our last morning here, and enjoyed our
view and all that goes with it! We then packed up and said goodbye and thank
you to Frank, hopefully we can come back one day with a boat.
Bye Bye Seven Emu |
We went back through Borroloola on our way to King
Ash Bay, lucky we didn’t need supplies as everything here shuts midday on
Sunday.
We clocked 7,000km today, so that’s about 1000km
per week as we’ve been away 7 weeks on tue.
We arrived here in the early arvo, and set up camp
along the banks of the Mcarthur River at the King Ash Bay Fishing Club. The
river is beautiful, its blue and calm and has plenty of crocs. We spotted our
first salt water crocodile on the opposite bank as we were setting up camp.
My afternoon was spent doing yet more washing, at
least I had a washing machine today. We were initially staying for 1 night, but
decided to stay 2 as the first day was spent doing washing, and I just want to
kick back on the river bank and do nothing tomorrow.
We have a nice grassy spot, which I love, no more
bulldust everywhere! It’s pretty busy here, this time of year, the
grey nomads come up for the fishing. It’s a fisherman’s paradise here, and that is why they come.
Unpowered sites are $22/night for 2 adults, they
have a bar/restaraunt, mini mart and fuel station.
