A whale of a time at Middle Lagoon (Day 94 - 97, July 26th to July 29th)
We enjoyed 4 wonderful, sunny, relaxing days at Middle Lagoon, which is170km north of Broome on the Dampier Peninsula.

We called into the Aboriginal community of Beagle Bay on our journey to Middle Lagoon. Beagle Bay became the site of a mission for the Aboriginal people dating back to 1890. The beautiful historic sacred heart church was built in WW1. The interior of the church is decorated with shells, including mother of pearl, cowries, volutes, and olives.
Arriving at Middle lagoon we set up camp 'on the ridge' overlooking the beautiful bay. Little did we know we were going to endure 30 knot winds that night, which would have half of the annex flapping in the "breeze" and our car awning inverting itself and spearing into my passenger window. Luckily the window didn't smash, just a few scratches, but the awning is now in the bin.
The wind would die down by lunch time each day and pick up again in the evening, the following 3 nights were windy but nothing like that first night! A lot of people wont camp 'on the ridge' for that reason (way to windy) but our view and whale watching from our bed certaintly made up for it!
The mornings were chilly and still windy, so we made a restaurant inside each morning, which the kids really loved!
We saw whales splashing in the bay every day, which really made our time here special! Along with the superb sunsets, and warm relaxing days.
We did some exploring of the surrounding bays, one day we ventured to the Whale Song Cafe that everyone had told us about. It was a cute cafe with an organic, earthy feel with fantastic views and yummy home made sweets. They have a campground here too.
Another day had us checking out the next bay from our camp, it was also beautiful. Damon had a fish, while the kids and i played on the beach.
Now for those sunset pics, all taken from our camp balcony on the ridge :)
One night i had a play with some time lapse photography
our stay here would have to be another one of our many highlights so far.
