Day 79 - Drysdale River Station to King Edward River Camp(Wed July 11th)
We left today and headed north on the Kalumburu Road towards Mitchell Plateau. We had heard that the camp at King Edward River was nicer than the one at Mitchell Falls, and that people prefer to camp here and do a day tour into Mitchell Falls.
The road today was pretty rough, but it was better than what we were expecting, after hearing all the horror stories about the road. We just took our time and drove to the conditions, and had no problems at all. Unfortunately some people tend not to drive to the conditions, and speed, which results in accidents like these.
We arrived about lunch time, set up and spent the afternoon kicking back and swimming in the river, which is only about 100 meters from our door. There is a large waterfall downstream, which makes this part of the river safe from Crocodiles.
They only facilities they have here is a pit toilet, which is pretty smelly, more so than usual. But apart from that it's a top spot to camp. The river is magic, and we're loving the fact that we can swim!!
It was an early night for us, we're leaving at 7am tomorrow to drive to Mitchell Plateau where we will spend the day. And of course we're all very excited for our helicopter flight, Yippie!!

Beautiful photos and great travels. Looking forward to visiting some of these spots too. Shame our time together at Middle Lagoon was so short....I think we could have got some good doof cranking after the kids were down!
